The Problem with Sunken Manhole Covers & Grates
Without proper installation, manhole covers and drainage grates can sink below the road surface due to wear, water ingress and heavy traffic. These depressions create hazardous driving conditions, damage vehicles, and contribute to surface water pooling.

Installation Instructions

Quick Repair Guide
1. Sweep the surface to clear debris. To speed this up we recommend a power brush.
2. Mark out & cut as near square hole in the road surface large enough to include any cracked,
broken or sunken road surface at least 500mm from the edge of the existing iron
work.
3. Chip away the cut road surface with a breaker. Lift existing ironwork and carefully remove broken bedding material from chamber
4. Calculate the correct combination of SHIMPAC® ROADSHIM® plank thicknesses needed to raise the desired ironwork and bring the top of the ironwork level with the
road or path surface. Prepare your mortar.
5. Layer the shims with the mortar
6. There is no curing time required. EZ Street asphalt can be laid immediately.
7. Finish with overbanding tape around the repair's border.
