EZ Street Road Repair Solutions
Bridge Deck Surfacing
Bridge decks require specialised materials due to their structural importance and exposure to constant traffic loads and extreme weather conditions. Unlike traditional hot mix asphalt, EZ Street is a cold-applied asphalt that simplifies the process without compromising durability.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- Applied without damaging waterproof membranes.
- No expensive hot mix plants or heated transport.
- Bonds well to concrete and asphalt.
- Traffic-ready immediately.
Traditional methods often require long bridge shutdowns. EZ Street repairs are quick and minimally disruptive.
Kerb Reinstatements
Kerb reinstatements are common in urban environments where pavement modifications or utility works occur. These repairs involve small, intricate sections that require a durable, compactable material.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- No need for large-scale machinery – can be applied manually.
- Laid in small quantities without waste.
- Provides a strong, stable surface resistant to water infiltration and freeze-thaw damage.
- Remains flexible to accommodate slight ground movement.
Traditional methods waste material and require complex logistics. EZ Street eliminates these challenges.
Track Reinstatements
When utility providers dig trenches for pipeline installations, the road surface must be reinstated efficiently. Repairs must handle heavy traffic loads while minimizing disruption.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- Ready to use on-site – no waiting for hot asphalt.
- Can be applied in any weather condition.
- Eliminates road closures – repairs are immediately trafficable.
- Easy to place and compact without specialist machinery.
Traditional reinstatement methods lead to delays and extra costs. EZ Street lets contractors work on their own schedule.
Edge Repairs
Road edges are prone to failure due to erosion, vehicle overrun, and poor drainage. Over time, cracks appear, leading to progressive pavement deterioration.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- Quick and easy to apply without extensive resurfacing.
- Works in layers for deep edge repairs.
- Strong and durable, preventing further erosion.
- No additional bonding agents required.
Unlike full-width overlays with traditional resurfacing, EZ Street allows targeted repairs at a lower cost.
Trip Hazard Repairs
Uneven surfaces, sunken patches, and broken asphalt create significant trip hazards in car parks, pedestrian walkways, and urban streets.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- Fast application – a single worker can complete a repair in minutes.
- No need for specialist contractors – minimal training required.
- Flexible and durable, reducing the likelihood of further cracking.
- Immediately safe for traffic and pedestrians.
Traditional methods involve temporary patches that fail quickly. EZ Street offers a permanent solution.
Footpath & Pedestrian Area Repairs
Footpaths endure constant wear in high-traffic urban areas. Damage not only creates trip hazards but also leads to further deterioration if left unrepaired.
Why EZ Street is the Best Choice:
- Can be used in small, precise repairs without requiring large quantities.
- Allows immediate pedestrian use – no extended curing time.
- Works on both asphalt and concrete surfaces for a stable finish.
- Cost-effective for councils and property owners.
Traditional hot mix repairs demand road closures and are labor-intensive. EZ Street enables quicker, safer footpath maintenance.
EZ Street Asphalt in a Driveway Overlay Project
One of the most innovative uses of EZ Street Asphalt was in a driveway overlay project covering a 50m stretch. Unlike traditional repairs, this project demonstrated how EZ Street could be used for full resurfacing applications, rather than just small-scale patching.
This 2019 project showcased the versatility of EZ Street Asphalt beyond traditional hand-applied repairs. Covering a 50m stretch of an existing access roadway, the asphalt was laid to a depth of approximately 50mm using a standard Volvo Paver. This method allowed for initial compaction from the paver screed, which contributed to early stiffness and consolidation of the material before final rolling. To achieve a smooth, durable surface, further compaction was carried out using a Bomag 100 vibratory roller, providing a well-compacted, traffic-ready finish.
For this project, the EZ Street mix design was specially modified to optimise its performance through paving machinery, demonstrating its compatibility with standard equipment such as pavers and rollers. One of the key learnings from this trial was that a thinner layer thickness of 30mm would have further optimised compaction and improved early-life stiffness, enhancing long-term durability.
The driveway has been subjected to regular HGV and agricultural equipment traffic since completion, providing a real-world test of EZ Street’s durability under heavy loads. After almost six years in service, the surface remains in excellent condition, proving the effectiveness of EZ Street Asphalt as a reliable, long-lasting surfacing solution. This project also reinforced the feasibility of using EZ Street for full resurfacing applications, particularly in remote locations where traditional hot mix asphalt presents logistical challenges due to transport and heating requirements.
