Description

Red Stag K1-40 Tack Coat

High-Performance Bond Coat for Superior Surface Adhesion

Red Stag K1-40 Tack Coat is a premium, cold-applied, rapid-setting cationic bitumen emulsion, specifically engineered to enhance the bond between existing surfaces and new bituminous overlays. Designed for use on highways, footways, and other paved areas, K1-40 ensures long-lasting adhesion, minimising the risk of delamination and water ingress.

With performance characteristics comparable to Leotak, Red Stag K1-40 delivers exceptional bonding properties, rapid curing times, and consistent application, making it a cost-effective alternative without compromising quality.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Superior adhesion, forming a strong bond between layers to reduce the risk of movement and structural failure
  • Rapid drying time with a quick-breaking formulation to ensure efficient work schedules and minimise delays
  • Versatile application, suitable for use with hot rolled asphalt (HRA), macadam, patching, and inlay work
  • Water-resistant barrier that reduces the risk of water penetration, preventing premature deterioration of the surface

Recommended Uses

  • Carriageways
  • Footways
  • Car parks
  • Highways and private roads

Application & Coverage

Red Stag K1-40 Tack Coat should be applied evenly at a rate of 0.3 – 0.6 litres per m², depending on surface texture and porosity.

  • 25kg container: approximately 40m² coverage
  • 200kg drum: approximately 320m² coverage
  • 1000kg IBC: bulk application for larger projects

Apply via mechanical sprayer or brush for small-scale applications. Restrict traffic until the emulsion has fully broken (colour change from brown to black), indicating readiness for overlay.

Packaging Options

  • 25kg containers
  • 200kg drums
  • 1000kg IBCs (bulk orders)

Storage & Handling

  • Store in a frost-free environment
  • Rotate drums periodically to prevent separation
